Why use ACH (Automated Clearing House) to fund your account?
It’s the free, secure, and fast (once you’ve established the service) way to electronically transfer funds into and out of your optionsXpress account. ACH allows transfers between your domestic checking or money market account and your optionsXpress account with just a few clicks of your mouse. There’s no need to call your bank, fill out a deposit envelope, or even get out of your chair! Funds generally take only 1–2 business days to be received.
So how do I get started?
Once your account is set up, Log In and go to the Transfer Funds link in the Account tab, and click on Establish ACH. You’ll need to fill out some information about your bank name and routing number, and we’ll send you an e-mail detailing the remaining steps you need to take to complete the process. Please note: optionsXpress only allows you to set up ACH with bank accounts that share the same registration name.
What else do I need to know?
ACH can be set up only once your new account is fully established. In addition, once we receive your request it may take a few days for ACH to kick in. A check sent with your initial paperwork, or a wire sent after your account is set up may be faster for the initial funding of your account.
ACH is not available for transfers between international accounts—please consider funding your account with a check or wire transfer instead.
Withdrawals by ACH from IRA accounts must be accompanied by an IRA Distribution Form (accessed from the Transfer Funds page). The distribution form will have to be received before funds can be released. Please see our funding FAQ for complete details.
